Privacy

The short version

This site and the game set no tracking cookies and run no advertising. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or identify you. If you play, we keep your account (your email address and a protected password) and your game, so you can come back to it. If you join the waiting list, we keep your name and email until we can let you in.

Who we are

Crown of Sand is made by Ionut Rafila, trading as Sixagentic, a software studio in the UK. For anything about your data, email privacy@sixagentic.com.

When you visit crownofsand.com or play.crownofsand.com

• Hosting: both are hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect them from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical details such as your IP address and browser type.
• Visit counts: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they view and roughly where they come from. It doesn't set cookies, doesn't use your IP address to identify you, and doesn't follow you to other sites.

When you play

• Your account: we keep your name, email address and password, to sign you in and keep your progress safe. Your password is stored only as a salted hash, so nobody, including us, can read it.
• Your game: we keep your characters, their belongings and your saved progress, linked to your account.
• The play log: we record how the game is played: sessions, time played, and where players stop. Each record carries an account ID, not your name or email. We use it only to make the game better.
• Your orders: what you type, or say, to the game is sent to OpenAI's models so the game can understand it and respond. Spoken orders are turned into text first. Along with your order, we send your character's in-game name and facts about the game world, so the reply fits your game. We don't use them for anything else, and we don't send your email address with them. OpenAI explains its handling in its privacy policy.
• The waiting list: when you sign up, we keep your name, email address and password (stored as above), and whether your account has been let in yet. Until it has, you're on the waiting list. We use your details only to let you in when a place opens. We don't email you about the game until it launches. If you'd rather not hear from us then, tell us and we won't. If you'd like to leave the list, email us and we'll delete your details within one month.
• Why: to provide the game you've signed up for.
• How long: while your account exists. If you ask us to delete it, we delete your account and your game within one month. Play log records are kept for up to 24 months.
• Where: Cloudflare and OpenAI may process data outside the UK, under the UK's safeguards for international transfers.

When you email us

We keep your email address, your name if your email shows it, and what you write. We use them only to reply, and keep them for up to 24 months after our last reply.

What we never do

We never sell your data, share it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list you didn't ask for.

Your rights

You can ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to stop using it. Email privacy@sixagentic.com and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
